Integrating Yoga in Eating Disorder Treatment: Best Practices for Therapists and Clinicians

December 11th, 2024 | 12:00PM – 2:00PM EST / 5:00PM – 7:00PM GMT

Join us for an insightful workshop led by Chelsea Roff, Founding Director of Eat Breathe Thrive and a renowned yoga therapist in the eating disorder field.

This continuing education event is for eating disorder professionals seeking to expand their treatment repertoire.

A growing body of research underscores the efficacy of yoga in bolstering eating disorder treatment. However many clinicians, particularly in outpatient settings, lack specialized knowledge about the yoga practices that can be most helpful at different stages of recovery. This workshop is designed to bridge that knowledge gap.

Drawing from extensive experience integrating yoga in treatment, Chelsea will cover the fundamental concepts of yoga therapy tailored for clients with eating disorders. You will learn practices to help your clients build interoceptive awareness, foster body appreciation, and emotionally self-soothe. These somatic skills are crucial in long-term recovery and are often missing from conventional eating disorder therapies.

Chelsea will share her extensive experience and knowledge in integrating yoga into different levels of care, including case examples that illustrate how the embodied aspects of yoga can complement and enrich the treatment experience.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the research supporting the benefits of yoga in eating disorder treatment.
  • Learn practical techniques to incorporate yoga into treatment, enhancing interoceptive awareness, body appreciation, and self-compassion.
  • Explore how the embodied practice of yoga can complement talking therapies, offering a more holistic approach to recovery.
